Layla Ramezan and Joanna Goodale offer a captivating program around Shéhérazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, an emblematic work of the symphonic repertoire, presented here in its fascinating version for piano four hands created by the composer himself. Inspired by the myth of Arabian Nights, this masterful work evokes a dreamed East that deeply nourished the Western imagination, while embodying the wisdom, finesse and narrative power of a legendary female figure. Layla Ramezan on piano and Keyvan Chemirani on percussion offer a journey to the heart of Eastern music, through works inspired by dance and from different traditions, Iranian, Turkish, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Azerbaijani, Azerbaijani, Greek and Armenian. This instrumental dialogue, enriched by subtle rhythmic work between piano and oriental percussion, highlights the vitality and depth of these repertoires. Of great diversity and intensity, they bear witness to a common history, shaped by exchanges, migrations and the reciprocal influences between these neighboring cultures.

At the crossroads of Europe and the Middle East, there is a meeting space that constantly inspires the composers who live there. Generations intertwine, and their voices echo multiple horizons, internal as well as geographical. Sarabande in the Garden of Persian Poets is a piano recital by Layla Ramezan, where piano works by great composers from the West and the Middle East are extended by poems by Persian masters such as Hafez and Saadi, recited by the pianist, in their original language. Their timeless voice evokes the memory of gardens, of the native land and of the impulses of the soul.
